Trades agencies that offer area exclusivity: five, with the small print

Exclusivity is the most misused word in trades marketing. Some agencies mean you are the only roofer they work with in your town. Others mean the lead they send you is not also sold to three competitors. The five agencies below all promise something under that heading. This list sets out exactly what each one means.

Area exclusivity versus lead exclusivity

Area exclusivity: the agency agrees not to take on another business in your trade in your area. It is a restriction on the agency. The strongest versions are written into the contract.

Lead exclusivity: each enquiry goes to you alone and is not resold. It is a promise about the lead, not about who else the agency works for. An agency can offer exclusive leads to five plumbers in the same town.

Three agencies originally considered for this list, Local Leads Accelerator, Home Improvements Digital Marketing and TradesGrow, do not state either form of exclusivity on their websites. They were replaced with Scale Through Us, We Build Trades and Get Work, which do. For the general background, read what area exclusivity really means.

1. Roofing SEO Services (SEO Consultancy Ltd)

Best for: Roofers who want one-per-town exclusivity written into the agreement

Roofing SEO Services, run by Dr M Mansoor Siddique from East Ham in London and trading since 2012, works only with roofers and roofing contractors. Its exclusivity is the clearest on this list: one roofer per town, written into the agreement.

The service covers Google Business Profile and map pack work, local SEO with postcode town pages, citation building, UK link building, technical SEO, review management and call and form lead tracking. It reports on booked jobs rather than traffic, uses a UK team with no subcontracting, and runs on a rolling monthly basis with 30 days' notice and the client keeping all assets.

Pricing is published: monthly packages from £499 up to £2,599 depending on local competition, with no setup fee. Case studies are anonymised and cover map pack and keyword rankings.

Verdict: Contractual, town-level exclusivity with published prices. The benchmark for how exclusivity should be stated.

2. Lead Wave

Best for: Roofers, driveway and landscaping firms wanting fast Facebook leads with one business per trade per area

Lead Wave, based in Lowestoft and Norwich and trading since 2022, runs Facebook and Meta ads from the client's own account, shown only in their area. It states one business per trade per area. Every enquiry gets an automatic text within seconds, and the company says campaigns are typically live within an hour with first leads inside 24 hours.

Trades listed are roofers, driveway installers, landscapers, tree surgeons and carpet cleaners. Client results are published for roofers in several regions and a tree surgeon, plus a carpet cleaner video testimonial. Google Ads measured on booked jobs and websites for tradesmen are also offered.

Pricing is not published and is quoted via WhatsApp. Terms are month to month with no lock-in. Because the ads run in your own account, you keep the data if you leave.

Verdict: Area exclusivity stated plainly, with fast setup. Ask how 'area' is defined for your postcode before signing.

3. Scale Through Us

Best for: Trades wanting a managed paid-ads department with a cap on local competitors

London-based Scale Through Us sells a fully managed growth department: Facebook, Instagram and Google ads, web design, SMS and email marketing, reputation management, SEO, CRM automation and consultancy. Its exclusivity is a strict cap of three businesses per niche per location, with a 'secure your territory' message.

Three per location is weaker than one per town, but it is still a stated limit. Trades covered include roofing, electrical, plumbing, solar, driveways and paving, construction, HVAC, damp proofing, renovations and bathroom fitting.

Pricing is not published. Proof on the site is thin: three short testimonials from electrical, roofing and driveway clients rather than detailed case studies.

Verdict: A capped-territory model rather than true exclusivity. Confirm the cap and how 'location' is drawn in writing.

4. We Build Trades

Best for: Multi-van home service firms wanting an all-in-one platform with territory protection

We Build Trades, listed as Halesowen in the West Midlands by the InstallerSHOW exhibitor directory, describes an AI-powered growth system connecting website, paid media across Google, Meta, TikTok and Bing, AI lead follow-up and a CRM pipeline. Area exclusivity is listed among its services.

The company claims more than 300 trade companies and says the system has been refined since 2017, with a focus on heating, boilers and heat pumps, electrical, roofing, solar and EV charging.

No pricing is published and no case studies are published. The exclusivity claim sits alongside the rest of the offer without detail on how areas are defined.

Verdict: Exclusivity is offered but not explained publicly. Diligence needed on both the terms and the proof.

5. Get Work

Best for: Tradespeople who want exclusive Google Ads leads through a managed platform

Get Work, in Lytham St Annes, builds a landing page and Google Ads funnel per tradesperson, delivers text notifications for new leads and provides a lead management and job booking platform with a spend and job-value dashboard. It is a Google Partner and works with trade associations.

The exclusivity here is lead exclusivity: Get Work says its leads are exclusive to the client. It does not state that it limits how many businesses it works with per trade per area, so it is the least restrictive model on this list. Trades covered run from roofing and building through fencing, tree surgery and loft conversions.

Pricing sits on a separate page and is not shown on the homepage. Published results cover first-month revenue and ROI for a roofing company.

Verdict: Exclusive leads, not an exclusive area. Useful, but a different promise from the first two entries.

Choosing on exclusivity alone is a mistake

Exclusivity protects you from the agency's other clients. It does nothing about the twenty competitors who use a different agency or none. Treat it as a tie-breaker between agencies that already pass on price, terms and proof.

If you are a roofer, Roofing SEO Services offers the strongest version and publishes its prices. If you want quick Facebook leads in landscaping or driveways, Lead Wave's one-per-area promise is the next clearest. Scale Through Us and We Build Trades need questions answered before the exclusivity claim can be valued. Get Work is a lead-exclusivity model and should be judged as paid-media management, not territory protection.

Ask every agency the same three questions: what is the geographic unit, is it in the contract, and what happens to the exclusivity if I pause for a month? Then compare the answers alongside the wider field in our side-by-side agency comparison and the guide to reading agency proposals line by line.

A useful counterweight: our profile of TradesGrow covers an agency that publishes per-trade results without claiming exclusivity at all.

Frequently asked questions

What does area exclusivity mean in trades marketing?

The agency agrees not to work with another business in your trade within a defined area. The strongest versions name the area and put the promise in the contract, as Roofing SEO Services does with one roofer per town.

Is lead exclusivity the same thing?

No. Lead exclusivity means each enquiry is sent to you alone and not resold. The agency may still work for your direct competitors in the same town.

Does exclusivity cost more?

Sometimes. Roofing SEO Services prices by local competition, from £499 to £2,599 a month. Most others on this list do not publish prices, so the premium is hard to measure.

Can an agency offer exclusivity and still run ads in my area for someone else?

Only if the other business is in a different trade or the agency's definition of 'area' is narrower than yours. Get the postcode boundary in writing.
